What is Derive (formerly Lyra)?

Derive is building a cornerstone of the new, open-source financial system. Derive is the largest decentralized options exchange in crypto, having settled over $5 billion in volumes to date. The team consists of ex-FAANG engineers, traders from top traditional market making firms, quants, and founding members of successful DeFi protocols.

Job Description:

You will be designing and building core product features end-to-end that touch thousands of traders and over $100m in trading volume every week. The team is looking for an experienced software engineer who is passionate about building financial products and is able to work in a fast paced environment with a small team. They should be a self-starter with a passion for crypto, product and design, and have strong attention to detail.

Location: fully remote, preferred timezones North America and Asia Pacific

Responsibilities:

• Work across client, server, architecture, and infrastructure that powers our web products
• Rapidly implement core product features and UI elements from design mocks, with an eye toward clarity, performance and accessibility, ensuring that components are functional, elegant, performant, and mobile-friendly
• Know when to create abstractions vs. one-off features
• Provide mentorship and feedback to other engineers on the team through both code and design doc reviews

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional SWE experience
• Experience with TypeScript in React
• A deep understanding of the architecture of modern client-side React applications
• Familiarity with the web3 frontend stack (ethers.js/web3.js/viem, EIP-1193, client-side private key management, etc.)
• Built and shipped a software product into the wild with real users
• Good listening and communication skills
• Ability to work independently but at a high pace
• Excited to work in DeFi
